Omowunmi Akinnifesi, a former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (2005), has shared her personal journey of faith, self-discovery, and the challenges of staying true to her values in an often judgmental world. In a candid video posted on her YouTube channel, Akinnifesi discussed her decision to remain a virgin and the feelings of shame she once endured, which ultimately inspired her to create an initiative aimed at empowering women.
The initiative, named *Sacred Vessels*, is designed to help women rediscover their worth and uphold moral values in a society where these principles can sometimes be overlooked. In the video titled *The Walk In Purity*, Akinnifesi revealed that her commitment to purity began with a personal covenant she made with God at the age of 18.
"I started this initiative because I see how things have changed. It seems as though women no longer understand our true value and morals," she explained. "I made a covenant with God when I was 18 about keeping myself."
Akinnifesi opened up about the emotional struggles she faced in her twenties, acknowledging the mistakes and challenges she encountered along the way. She confessed that, despite her strong commitment, she struggled with feelings of shame and isolation, feeling unable to talk to her friends about her choices. “I had friends that I couldn’t talk to. When I finally spoke to them, they would laugh at me," she admitted.
She also discussed the role that rumors and negative stories about her personal life played in her journey, stating that these external pressures fueled her decision to stay committed to her values. “The stories I would hear about myself were even worse. Imagine being okay with negative stories about you, masking something that you thought was going to be an embarrassment. It was very hard for me, but I did it through the grace of God,” she said.
Through her platform and initiative, Akinnifesi is determined to help women find strength and confidence in their own journeys, offering them a space to embrace their values without fear of judgment.
