Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have successfully rescued a lawyer and his niece from a dangerous kidnapping ordeal. The victims were freed after police raided an underground tunnel hidden deep within a forest, where they had been held captive by their abductors.
According to a viral video capturing the dramatic rescue, police acted on a tip-off to locate the hideout. Upon reaching the scene, the operatives meticulously removed a heavy slab that had been placed over the victims by their captors, freeing them from the tunnel.
"Come out all of you, you are saved in Jesus name," one of the officers was heard saying as the victims were brought to safety.
In a statement confirming the successful operation, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Command, ASP Timfon John, assured the public that both the lawyer and his niece are currently undergoing medical examinations. She commended the swift action of the police in securing their release, ensuring that they are receiving the necessary care after their traumatic ordeal.
