Opeyemi, a Nigerian woman who sought refuge in Romania in 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, has made a remarkable journey, qualifying as a medical doctor just two years later.
Amid the chaos of the war, Opeyemi was one of tens of thousands of refugees, including women and children, who fled Ukraine as Russian forces intensified their attacks. After crossing into Romania and other neighboring countries, Opeyemi found safety and eventually pursued her dreams of becoming a doctor.
In a heartwarming post on social media, Opeyemi shared a photo of herself at the border in 2022 alongside other refugees, reflecting on her journey. She captioned the image: "Me in 2022, Me in 2024, literally."
On November 22, 2024, she proudly announced her achievement: "2022, a refugee. 2024, a licensed medical doctor. Look at God."
Her inspiring story is a testament to resilience, determination, and the transformative power of perseverance in the face of adversity.
