Kim, a member of the Zimbabwean dance group Spicy Angels, has been arrested after public backlash against a viral video showing her engaging in explicit acts during a stage performance at Choggs Bar in Epworth. The performance sparked outrage, with many calling for accountability for what they considered immoral and inappropriate public behavior.
The incident occurred nearly a month ago, sparking widespread condemnation and demands for legal action.
Kim was apprehended over the weekend after evading authorities despite initially promising to turn herself in. She appeared before the Epworth Magistrates’ Court on charges of public indecency and remains in custody pending her next court appearance.
The video, which drew sharp criticism, depicts Kim pulling a male patron on stage, removing his trousers, and performing explicit acts in full view of the nightclub audience. The male participant also engaged in similar lewd behavior, intensifying public outrage.
The Dancers Association of Zimbabwe (DAZ) has suspended Kim’s performance license in response to the incident. DAZ President Harpers Mapimhidze stated, “We are going to institute investigations and revoke the dancer’s license. Hazviite zvaakaita zviye [such actions are unacceptable]. She should just do her job of dancing, not to strip fans and have s3x with them on stage. She was summoned to the police and lied that she was going to hand herself over but has been evasive since the day she was called.”
Authorities have labeled the act as a violation of public decency, with many Zimbabweans voicing their outrage on social media.
The incident has prompted calls for stricter regulation of performers in nightlife venues.
Kim’s arrest follows weeks of eluding authorities after the police summoned her and the leader of her dance group for questioning.
