
In a significant breakthrough, troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, apprehended a suspected female ammunition courier, Shamsiyya Ahadu, allegedly working for notorious terrorist kingpin Bello Turji.
According to a statement issued by Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, the 25-year-old suspect was arrested on December 28 in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area, Zamfara State. She was caught with 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines intended for Turji’s camp.
The operation also led to the arrest of her accomplice, a motorcyclist identified as Ahmed Husaini, who was aiding the transport of the contraband.
“The arrest followed an intelligence report on the movement of terrorist logistics along the Kware-Badarawa road in Shinkafi,” the statement read. “Troops promptly set up a roadblock, intercepting the suspects and their illicit cargo.”
Both suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, while authorities continue investigations to uncover more about their activities and connections.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its dedication to dismantling terrorist networks and curbing the illegal movement of arms and ammunition in the region.
The statement also urged members of the public to continue providing credible intelligence to aid security efforts. It thanked local communities for their unwavering support in helping the military fulfill its mandate to restore peace and stability in the area.
