Tragedy struck at the Benue Links Park in Area 3, Federal Capital Territory, on New Year’s Day as a middle-aged woman, identified as Alice Emmanuel, collapsed and died shortly after stepping out of a taxi.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred at approximately 9:25 a.m. on January 1, 2025. The woman had just alighted from the vehicle in front of the park when she suddenly slumped to the ground.
The park manager promptly alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and transported her to Karu General Hospital. Upon arrival, doctors confirmed that she was deceased. Authorities noted that no visible signs of violence were found on her body.
Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the development. She revealed that the family of the deceased had been notified, and the woman’s remains were deposited in the hospital morgue.
The cause of Alice Emmanuel’s death remains unclear, though investigations are ongoing. Her sudden passing has left many shocked as New Year celebrations were underway.
