The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two young individuals in Kwara State for allegedly producing and selling drug-laced cupcakes to students in Ilorin.
The suspects, identified as Khadijat Abdulraheem, a 24-year-old recent graduate, and Ayomide Morakinyo, a 20-year-old student of the University of Ilorin, were apprehended at Tanke-University of Ilorin Road, Oke Odo, Ilorin.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the agency uncovered 42 pieces of drug-infused cupcakes during a search of their apartment.
The operation highlights ongoing efforts by the NDLEA to tackle drug-related crimes, particularly those targeting vulnerable youth populations. Investigations into the case are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face charges in court.
This arrest serves as a reminder of the agency’s commitment to safeguarding communities from the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.
