The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 30-year-old Daniel Onyejekwe, who is accused of murdering Christian Goodluck on January 1, 2025, in Sapele Town, located within the Sapele Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, issued a statement on Sunday, providing details of the tragic incident. The statement, titled *"Please Control Your Temper,"* revealed that Onyejekwe allegedly encountered the deceased, Christian Goodluck, in the midst of a quarrel in which Goodluck was reportedly assaulting Onyejekwe’s mother.
The situation escalated when the two men engaged in a fight, using a broken bottle as a weapon. During the altercation, Onyejekwe is said to have stabbed Goodluck with the broken bottle, which ultimately led to his death.
“This was a tragic start to the New Year,” SP Edafe said in the statement, urging people to manage their emotions and avoid violence in the face of conflict.
Onyejekwe has been taken into custody, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The police have reminded the public of the importance of controlling anger and resolving disputes peacefully.
