THE Congress for Progressive Change’s presidential candidate, Maj.-Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (retd), on Thursday defied attempts by the police to stop the party’s North-Central rally in Minna, Niger State.

Addressing the large crowd of CPC supporters, Buhari said the ineptitude of the PDP had wrecked all functional infrastructure in Nigeria. He also lamented that the nation’s resources had been confiscated by a few rich individuals.

He said instead of bringing succour to the poor and less privileged people in the society, the 12-year administration of PDP had entrenched poverty and hopelessness in the country.

Buhari, who was accompanied by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, Balarabe Musa, said the April elections would serve as another opportunity for Nigerians to free the country of corruption.

He recalled that a functional railway system, qualitative education and potable water were no longer available in the country. Buhari blamed the situation on the lack of accountability and probity in government.

Buhari, who was adopted by the PRP as its presidential candidate, urged the hordes of CPC supporters to resist attempts by riggers to bungle the April elections.

He urged the electorate to participate in the polls and aggressively protect their votes.

Buhari later presented flags to the governorship candidate in Niger State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shettima, and urged the people to vote for the CPC.
