
Operatives of the Taraba State Police Command have rescued three kidnapped victims after a gun duel with kidnappers in their hideout at Kumar Village in IbivLGA of the state.
Spokesman, of the Police command, SP Abdullahi Usman who made this known on behalf of the State Police CP Ukachi, Peter Opara on Monday, said the Tactical team in collaboration with the local Hunters and Vigilantes are sustaining a manhunt to arrest fleeing members of the kidnapping gang.
He said,
“The intelligence indicated on the same date at about 18.35hrs, suspicious movements of suspected kidnappers in the forest of Unguwan Wulliam Kumar Village, Ibi LGA, Taraba State.
“A combined team of Policemen, local Hunters and Vigilante were swiftly mobilized to the forest.
“On sighting the team, the hoodlums engaged the combined team in a gun duel. Due to the superior firepower of the team, the culprits were subdued and took to their heels into the forest with serious gun injuries sustained during the fierce off
“The following Kidnapped victims were consequently abandoned, Alhaji Ja’o Ahmadu 50yrs old, Gomna Shano 20yrs, both from Wuse, Awe LGA Nasarawa State and Donnal Himbeto 30yrs old of Kuka Shendam Plateau State.
“Victims were seen tied in the aforementioned forest and were rescued unhurt and are yet to be reunited with their families.
“When interviewed, it was discovered that the victims were kidnapped from Nasarawa state.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing Kidnappers so as to assuage the Command from the menace of the bandits.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ukachi P Opara commended the collaborative efforts of officers of Ibi Division with the local Hunters and Vigilantes for their excellent work.
“He assures the public that the command would continue to ensure criminals have no breathing space within the state.
“He further urged members of the public with useful information on criminals’ hideouts and activities to
