
The Gombe State Police Command has arrested five teenagers accused of beating a man to death during a wedding ceremony in Jauro Ali village, Gombe State. The suspects, aged between 16 and 18, were taken into custody following a report from the victim’s father, Dotti Manu, from Wuro Wandara village.
According to Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Buhari Abdullahi, the incident occurred on the evening of December 21, 2024, around 10 p.m., when a dispute during the wedding celebration turned violent. The suspects allegedly attacked the victim with sticks, inflicting severe internal injuries. Despite being rushed to Kowa Clinic in Tongo for treatment, the victim succumbed to his injuries. His body was later transferred to General Hospital Bajoga for an autopsy.
Abdullahi confirmed that the case is under investigation, and once completed, the suspects will be charged in court. "The Gombe State Police Command is committed to bringing those responsible for this senseless act of violence to justice," he stated.
The police have also called on the public to come forward with any further information related to the crime. "We remain dedicated to safeguarding our community and ensuring that justice is served," Abdullahi added.
