
Police operatives in Owode Egba, Ogun State, have arrested a man, Sholola Kazeem, for allegedly pouring hot oil on his wife and stabbing her in the head during a domestic dispute. The incident, which occurred in the Ring Road community of Owode Egba Local Government Area, has left the community in shock.
According to reports, the altercation escalated into violence on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola revealed that the attack was reported by concerned community members around 12:20 p.m., prompting swift action by the Divisional Police Officer of Owode Egba.
"On January 18, 2025, at about 12:20 hours, we received a report from members of the Ring Road community regarding an incident involving Sholola Kazeem and his wife, Sholola Mutiat," Odutola stated. "It was alleged that Kazeem, in a fit of uncontrollable anger, poured hot oil on his wife and stabbed her in the head during an argument."
The victim, Mutiat, was rushed to Ore Ofe Hospital for urgent medical care, while the police visited the scene to gather evidence and arrested the suspect. The motive behind the violent outburst remains under investigation as authorities continue to unravel the circumstances leading to the attack.
Odutola assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that justice will be pursued. The incident has sparked conversations about domestic violence and the need for community vigilance in addressing such cases.
