
The Imo State Police Command's Anti-Kidnapping Squad has arrested a 40-year-old man, Uchenna Okpara, for allegedly stabbing his in-law, Uchenna Unakalamba, to death during a dispute in Ubomiri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area.
The incident, which occurred on January 16, 2025, reportedly stemmed from a minor disagreement involving their children. The altercation escalated, leading Okpara to attack Unakalamba with a broken bottle.
Police operatives responded swiftly to a distress call, apprehending the suspect at the scene and recovering the weapon.
Speaking to journalists, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Okoye Henry, confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The suspect is in police custody as investigations continue, with plans for prosecution upon conclusion.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
