Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the rescue in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, revealing that Ogun State police operatives, with support from the Force Headquarters’ technical intelligence platforms, engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle on Wednesday in a swampy area of Ikorodu.
Mrs. Odumosu, who was abducted on January 16, 2025, outside her residence in Arepo, Ogun State, was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with her family. She is currently undergoing medical evaluation as a precautionary measure.
Adejobi disclosed that during the intelligence-led operation, two kidnappers were neutralized, while four others fled, leaving behind weapons, ammunition, and N10 million ransom money. Recovered items include four AK-47 rifles, three locally made single-barrel rifles, and various ammunition.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their efforts, emphasizing the Police Force’s commitment to fighting kidnapping and violent crimes across the country.
