White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Friday that deportation flights have begun, sharing images of immigrants boarding United States military planes.
In a post shared on her X page, Karoline Leavitt revealed that hundreds of migrants were arrested on Thursday, with some flown out of the U.S. on military aircraft.
She noted that President Donald Trump was sending a message to the rest of the world, adding that those who entered the US illegally would be severely punished.
“President Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the entire world: if you illegally enter the United States of America, you will face severe consequences,” she wrote on X.
One photo, reportedly taken at Biggs Army Airfield at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, showed a plane holding 80 people departing for Guatemala on Thursday at 5 p.m., according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources.
While the identities of those boarding were not immediately confirmed, additional U.S. troops were also deployed to the Ysleta Port of Entry in El Paso to install barriers, CBP told Fox News.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported detaining over 530 undocumented immigrants on Thursday alone, including child sex offenders, gang members, and other criminals.
This is part of the larger deportation effort led by the new Trump’s administration, which has resulted in 460 arrests prior to Thursday.
During his election campaign, Trump pledged to tackle illegal immigration and kicked off his second term with a series of executive orders focused on reforming the U.S. immigration system.
