
The Kogi State Police Command has apprehended a 39-year-old man, Nnamdi Osita, in connection with the theft of a Toyota Coaster bus reportedly stolen over a year ago from Nyanya, Abuja.
The bus, bearing Abuja registration number GWA 488 ZD, was recovered during a routine operation along the Abuja-Lokoja highway on Wednesday, January 23, 2025.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Saturday. According to Ovye-Aya, the operation was carried out by officers of the 'B' Division Lokoja, in collaboration with other security agencies, following a credible intelligence report.
Kogi State Police Commissioner, CP Miller Dantawaye, explained that officers spotted the stolen vehicle on the highway and swiftly intercepted it, leading to Osita's arrest at approximately 4:45 pm.
“The stolen bus has been in police custody, and investigations are currently ongoing to uncover further details about the theft and any accomplices involved,” CP Dantawaye stated.
The commissioner reiterated the police command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in Kogi State and urged residents to cooperate by providing timely and credible information on criminal activities.
The recovery of the bus, stolen over a year ago, marks another success in the state’s intensified efforts to combat vehicle theft and other crimes.
