Tragedy struck in Kunture town, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State, as a 30-year-old man, Rabiu Sani, drowned in a puddle while attempting to fetch water on Saturday.

The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi. According to the statement, the Fire Service received an emergency call around 9:57 a.m. from Police Officer Silas Munkhaila, reporting the situation.

“Our rescue team from the state headquarters quickly mobilized to the scene, arriving at approximately 10:15 a.m.,” Abdullahi stated.

Upon arrival, the team discovered that Sani had fallen into the puddle while carrying out his father’s instructions to fetch water. He was pulled from the water unconscious but was later pronounced dead.

The Fire Service attributed the accident to the victim slipping into the puddle during the task. His remains were handed over to the ward head of Kunture, Uba Abdulkadir, in accordance with protocol.

This unfortunate incident has left the local community in shock and mourning. The Kano State Fire Service has reiterated its commitment to timely responses and urged residents to exercise caution during routine activities to prevent similar occurrences.
