
A group of unidentified gunmen has abducted the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, in Owerri, Imo State.
The President of the Igbo National Council (INC), Chilos Godsent, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday, February 9, 2025. According to Godsent, the abduction took place around 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, at Works Layout, Owerri.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, dressed in black and numbering up to seven, arrived in a Sienna and a Lexus SUV before forcefully whisking Igboayaka away to an unknown destination. His family remains in shock over the incident.
Godsent has called on the Imo State Police Command to take urgent action to track down the kidnappers and secure Igboayaka’s release.
“The Igbo National Council (INC) urges the leadership of the Nigerian Police Force, Imo State Command, to immediately investigate this incident, identify the perpetrators, and ensure that justice is served,” the statement read in part.
As of the time of reporting, the Imo State Police Command has yet to issue an official response regarding the abduction.
