Media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown has called out legendary singer 2Baba, also known as 2Face Idibia, over his recent divorce announcement from his wife of over a decade, Annie Idibia.
Speaking on the TVC talk show Your View, which she co-hosts, Morayo expressed strong disapproval of how 2Baba handled the separation.
She accused the singer of misleading Annie and questioned whether societal pressure influenced his decision to stay in the marriage.
“I don’t think 2Baba should go scot-free for what he has done and how he has damaged this young woman. Maybe it was societal pressure that made him stay with Annie, but he needs to explain himself because the society was there when they got married,” she said.
She further demanded to know when he realized he no longer wanted to be with Annie and what gave him the audacity to say he had fallen out of love.
The couple’s split, which marked the end of one of Africa’s most admired love stories, was confirmed last month when 2Baba announced their separation after over two decades together. He revealed that they had already been apart for some time and were finalizing their divorce, promising to issue a press statement.
Amid the controversy, reports emerged that 2Baba had moved on with a new partner, Natasha Osawaru Igbinedion from Edo State. On Tuesday night, the singer confirmed his relationship with Natasha in a video on Instagram, declaring his love for her and his intention to marry her. He insisted that she had no role in his breakup with Annie and claimed he and his estranged wife had reached an understanding.
In a follow-up post, 2Baba shared a photo of Natasha, urging Nigerians to plead with her to accept his marriage proposal, describing her as “his world.”
