The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Michael for allegedly stabbing his longtime friend, Uchenna, to death following a dispute over a missing phone.
The tragic incident occurred last Wednesday on Egede Street in the Mile 2 area of Diobu, Port Harcourt.
According to sources, Uchenna had visited Michael at his residence when the situation took a deadly turn. After spending time together, Michael reportedly realized his mobile phone was missing and, in frustration, accused Uchenna of stealing it.
An argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, during which Michael allegedly grabbed a jackknife and stabbed Uchenna in the stomach.
Eyewitnesses rushed the victim to the hospital, but doctors confirmed him dead on arrival. Police later arrested Michael in connection with the crime.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the suspect had been taken into custody and the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
