The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested four illegal immigrants from Cameroon and Chad for unauthorized entry into the state.
The suspects, identified as 23-year-old Cameroonian Dorooumouna Brosia, Hassan Bukhari (Cameroonian), 27-year-old Chadian Saleh Sakhair, and Mahamat Moudaina (23, Chadian), were apprehended at around 8:00 AM on Thursday while traveling to Lafenwa, Abeokuta.
According to a statement by So-Safe Corps Commander Soji Ganzallo, relayed through the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Moruf Yusuf, intelligence reports led to the arrest. Security operatives intercepted a taxi carrying the four foreigners and took them into custody without resistance.
During interrogation, the Cameroonian nationals disclosed that they had been in Ibadan for over four months, waiting for their Chadian counterparts. Investigations further revealed that a Chadian resident of Lafenwa, Hassan Seid, had facilitated their movement into Nigeria under the guise of seeking work and improving their English proficiency while conducting business.
Commander Ganzallo highlighted the security risks associated with undocumented migrants, warning that illegal entries could contribute to criminal activities and public safety threats.
The suspects have been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, for further investigation and possible deportation.
