
The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested Jimoh Abdulrahman for allegedly assaulting his wife, Mrs. Akintunde Bidemi Taiwo, a nursing mother, following the emergence of a disturbing video online.
The suspect was taken into custody on Saturday, February 15, 2025, after the footage sparked widespread outrage on social media.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, stated that the case has been transferred to the Gender-Based Violence Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation and prosecution.
“On February 15, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Ekiti State Police Command apprehended Jimoh Abdulrahman for the severe assault of his wife, Mrs. Akintunde Bidemi Taiwo, at Nova Area, Ado Ekiti,” Abutu said.
He explained that the arrest was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Eribo, after officers received a tip-off and verified the viral video showing the brutal attack.
Following swift action by operatives from the Oke-Ila division, Abdulrahman was taken into custody, and authorities have assured the public that the matter will be pursued in court to ensure justice.
The police urged residents to report cases of domestic violence, emphasizing their commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals in the state.
