A 45-year-old Quranic teacher, Musa Wada, has been arrested by the police for the horrific killing and mutilation of his pupil, Bashir Adamu, in Jikas-Dabaja village, Jigawa State.
The arrest, confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, followed a tip-off on March 13, 2025.
According to preliminary investigations, Wada allegedly subjected the young boy to severe punishment for repeatedly skipping classes. Tragically, the boy lost consciousness during the beating and died.
In a desperate attempt to cover up the incident, Wada reportedly mutilated the child’s body — severing his head and genitalia — before dumping the remains by a roadside. He later buried the dismembered parts on his farmland to conceal the crime.
The gruesome discovery was made on March 12, 2025, when villagers stumbled upon the decomposing, headless corpse abandoned along the Jikas-Dabaja road. Police traced the victim back to Wada’s Quranic school, leading to his arrest.
The suspect has since confessed to the killing, admitting he acted to "cover his shame."
Authorities have assured that Wada will face prosecution after investigations are completed, urging the public to remain calm as justice is pursued.
