Nigerian music sensation Rema has made a bold statement about his personal values, declaring that he has no intention of having children outside marriage.
The Afrobeats star, who recently became the first Black African artist to grace the cover of *Rolling Stone* magazine, shared his thoughts on relationships, fatherhood, and his rising global influence.
Rema, known for his introspective lyrics and smooth melodies, revealed he’s deliberate about how he navigates life and relationships.
“I feel like there’s a need for us [family] to grow bigger and become a whole empire if we can,” he explained. “But I also don’t want to wait for things to happen by mistake before becoming a father. I’m very particular — I don’t really be h*eing around.”
The singer, born Divine Ikubor, also spoke about his close friendships with fellow artists Ayra Starr and South African star Tyla.
“Ayra’s family, for sure. Tyla’s family. We’re good friends — I’ve been friends with Tyla even before everything blew up,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rema’s international recognition continues to soar, drawing praise from American pop icon Selena Gomez. In her chat with *Rolling Stone*, Gomez expressed admiration for Rema’s artistry and the lasting impact of his global hit *‘Calm Down.’*
“I am completely impressed with Rema as an artist. I believe his future is truly limitless. I was already a fan of the song even before I jumped on the remix. What stands out most for me is how the song kept growing, even a year after its release,” she said.
With his commitment to personal values and a growing list of achievements, Rema remains a trailblazer in the Afrobeats movement — shaping his career and life with unwavering intentionality.
