The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano State has arrested popular TikTok influencer, Murja Ibrahim Kunya, over allegations of Naira mutilation and abuse — specifically for spraying money at public events, a practice prohibited under Nigerian law.
A source within the commission, speaking to *Freedom Radio Kano*, confirmed that Murja is currently being held in EFCC custody as investigations continue.
The arrest is part of a wider crackdown by the anti-graft agency, targeting individuals who flaunt cash at social gatherings such as parties and weddings, contributing to what the EFCC describes as the "abuse of the nation's currency."
Murja isn’t the only content creator caught in the wave of enforcement. The commission recently apprehended other TikTok personalities, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, over similar accusations.
While no official statement has been released yet by either the EFCC or Kunya’s legal team, the arrest has sparked conversations online about the growing influence of social media stars and the legal boundaries surrounding their extravagant displays of wealth.
