The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two men accused of murdering and beheading a 10-year-old boy in what is suspected to be a ritual killing in Jada Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed the arrests in a statement on Sunday, revealing that the suspects — Ibrahim Abdul Malik, 27, and Aliyu Abdul Malik, 18 — both residents of Anguwan Sarkin Yamma, Jada, were apprehended on March 16, 2025, following credible intelligence.
The victim, identified as Abdalla Lawali, an Almajiri from Anguwar Dubai, Jada, was reported missing on March 7, 2025. After days of frantic searching, investigators linked the suspects to the boy’s disappearance.
Acting on directives from Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris, officers launched a search operation that led to the recovery of the boy’s decomposed body stuffed inside a sack. A further search of the suspects’ residence uncovered the severed head, buried in a shallow grave within the premises.
During interrogation, both suspects admitted to the crime, expressing regret and blaming their actions on “the devil.”
Condemning the incident as "barbaric and inhumane," CP Morris ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough probe and promised that justice would be swiftly served.
He also urged parents and community members to stay vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to authorities, assuring the public that the police remain committed to protecting lives and ensuring such tragic acts do not go unpunished.
