A heated dispute over grazing rights in Ilowa-Gbade Village, Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo State, left a 20-year-old herder, Salau Isiaka, and a 25-year-old farmer, Akinkunmi Tiamiyu, severely injured and hospitalized.
The altercation, which took place on March 21, 2025, began when Isiaka reportedly led his cattle onto Tiamiyu’s cassava farm, sparking a confrontation that quickly escalated into physical combat.
According to a statement from the Oyo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, the clash resulted in Isiaka suffering a serious head injury, while Tiamiyu sustained multiple wounds, including the loss of two fingers on his left hand.
Both men are currently receiving medical care at an undisclosed facility.
Osifeso confirmed that the case has been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku for a detailed probe. He also dismissed rumors of a larger community conflict, emphasizing that the incident stemmed from a personal disagreement between the two men.
“The Command is committed to ensuring justice is served, and peace is maintained in the area,” Osifeso assured.
Residents of the village have been urged to remain calm as investigations continue.
