A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the life of an unidentified rider on Thursday night in front of the NNPC Filling Station along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibafo, Ogun State.
Confirming the incident on Friday, Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, revealed that the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m.
According to the statement, the rider — aboard a yellow Quic motorcycle with an unknown registration number — was reportedly speeding when he lost control and slammed into a roadside culvert near the petrol station. The collision’s impact ignited the motorcycle, engulfing it in flames and leading to the rider’s instant death.

Authorities also confirmed that the charred remains of the motorcycle were recovered and taken to the local police station for safekeeping and further examination by the Vehicle Inspection Office.
The police command urged motorcyclists and other road users to prioritize safety by observing speed limits and adhering to traffic regulations to prevent such devastating accidents.
