Panic has gripped residents of Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra State, after gunmen kidnapped four individuals at the border between Nsugbe and Nkwele.
The attack, which occurred around 9:00 pm on Friday night, saw the armed men storm the area, seizing a man identified as Mr. Dona Ayakalor along with three of his friends.
Eyewitness reports revealed that the victims were forcefully taken to an unknown location. A disturbing video circulating online shows the abductees in visible pain, with gunshots fired at them, leaving some injured.
In the footage, one of the victims is heard making a desperate phone call, pleading with a relative to gather ransom money for their release.
Efforts to get an official statement from the Anambra State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, was unreachable at the time of this report.
The incident has sparked fear among locals, with many calling for stronger security measures to curb rising cases of abduction in the state.
