Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, made a surprise public appearance on Sunday, March 23, 2025, days after his suspension and the declaration of a state of emergency in the state by President Bola Tinubu.
Fubara was seen attending a church service at the global headquarters of Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt, marking his first sighting since his removal alongside his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, and the Rivers State House of Assembly members on March 18.
The governor arrived at the church around 10 a.m., escorted in a six-car convoy. He was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, and a team of security personnel — a clear statement that he remains active despite his political setback.
His appearance comes after days of swirling speculation about his whereabouts and safety. Rumors had circulated, suggesting Fubara had fled to Bayelsa State Government House in Yenagoa for refuge.
However, his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, dismissed the reports as false. "Forget about what you are reading on social media. The governor is safe and doing well," Chukwudi assured reporters.
Fubara’s public outing has sparked fresh debates about the political future of Rivers State, even as the state remains under emergency rule.
