The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man suspected to be part of an armed robbery syndicate specializing in stealing vehicles from the eastern region of Nigeria and reselling them in Lagos.
Confirming the arrest on Saturday, the command's spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the suspect was apprehended in the Ikotun area following an intelligence-driven operation.
“The syndicate targets vehicles in the eastern part of the country, moves them to Lagos, and sells them to unsuspecting buyers,” Hundeyin explained.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to receiving three Lexus 330 SUVs and a Lexus 350, 2017 model, from a female accomplice who remains on the run.
Acting on the suspect’s confession, police operatives traced and recovered two of the stolen vehicles — a silver Lexus 350 and a black Lexus 330.
Hundeyin assured the public that efforts were ongoing to track down the remaining syndicate members and recover more stolen cars.
