Registered voters in Kogi Central Senatorial District have officially petitioned INEC to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, citing “loss of confidence” due to alleged misconduct, abuse of office, and deceitful behavior.

The petition, dated March 21, 2025, references Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution and claims Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions have emb+rrassed the constituency and tarnished the Senate’s integrity.

Petitioners say they have secured signatures from over half of Kogi Central’s registered voters and demand INEC begin the recall process immediately.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who secured her Senate seat after a Court of Appeal ruling in October 2023, has yet to respond to the petition. INEC is required by law to verify the signatures and conduct a referendum before finalizing a recall.

The senator was recently suspended for six months over alleged misconduct in the red chamber. She, however, claims she is being p¥nushed for rejecting advances from Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

INEC has not issued an official statement on the petition.
