Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, has recently gained significant attention in Nigeria due to her candid critique of the government's handling of economic challenges. As a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Lagos, Raye posted a heartfelt video on TikTok expressing her frustration over the escalating cost of living and the perceived inadequacies of President Bola Tinubu's administration.
In her video, she described the president as "terrible" and questioned the government's efforts to alleviate citizens' hardships
The timing of Raye's outburst coincided with the long-awaited disbursement of the increased NYSC allowance.
Although the increase had been approved since September 2024, its implementation was delayed. Some Nigerians have linked the eventual payment to Raye's vocal criticism, suggesting that her actions may have expedited the process
Like Atiku said, “Raye embodies the spirit of a new generation of women who champion the ideals of popular participation and unwavering advocacy in the political sphere.”
