Kano Police Recover, Return ₦4.85m Kidnapping Ransom to Victim

The Kano State Police Command has successfully recovered and returned the sum of ₦4,850,000 to a kidnapping victim after a coordinated operation led to the arrest of five suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, handed over the recovered funds to the rightful owner through the Chairman of Gabasawa Local Government Area, Hon. Pharm Sagir Usman Abubakar.

In a statement by the police spokesman,SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the kidnapping incident occurred on March 8, 2025, when the victim, a resident of Zakirai n Gabasawa LGA, was abducted from his hometown.

The kidnappers had initially demanded a ransom of ₦15 million. However, following a rigorous intelligence-driven operation, the police successfully rescued the victim on March 17 and apprehended five suspects linked to the crime.

During the handover ceremony, Hon. Pharm Sagir Usman Abubakar expressed gratitude to the Kano State Police for their swift and professional handling of the case.

He commended their commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and urged continued collaboration between law enforcement angents and the public.

CP Bakori reaffirmed the police command’s dedication to combating crime and protecting lives and property in the state.

He also called on the public to provide timely and useful information that could help in tackling criminal activities.
