It good to allow such talks maybe once in a while so as to know ur ex' lapses which will even allow u to know how to avoid some things she can easily fall to.

it's look like gossiping,so not advisable.besides it could have a negative effect.
Only regarded as gossip when u comment negetively on the so discussed issues......
there is no way you could discussed your Ex without somehow pointed out his/her negative side..nope! its not possible,if it doesn't happen soon it will definitely happen later.
