No fewer than two persons were killed in the violence during which some others, including teachers, sustained various degrees of injuries.
Several cars and other valuables were also vandalised during the melee.
A statement by the Press Officer of the state Ministry of Education, Mr. Tunde Ajibike, on Wednesday quoted the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, as saying that the affected schools would remained close up until the government was convinced that normalcy has returned.
He, however, on behalf of the state government sympathised with the families of the bereaved and those that sustained injuries during the fracas.
The commissioner added that security agents have been put on the red alert to maintain peace in the two schools and their vicinities.
He said the government frowns at any attempt to foment trouble and thereby disrupt academic activities in the schools.
He added that the government would not hesitate to wield the big stick against anyone or group found to be disrupting the peace in schools or any part of the state.
