Asaba—A middle-aged suspected kidnapper, who was reportedly accused of kidnapping a three-year-old baby girl in the full glare of the public, has been burnt to death by an angry mob in Jesse, Delta State.
The suspected kidnapper, whose identity was given by police as Edisiri Oyawiri, allegedly kidnapped the child at about 6p.m., last Sunday and when the baby was traced to his house, he was dragged to the palace of the monarch of the community before he was finally taken away to face jungle justice.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Charles Muka confirmed the incident, saying there was the “kidnapping of the three years old baby daughter of Mr. Avwe London.
“She was kidnapped on May 22, 2011 at about 1800 hours by one Edisiri Oyawiri of Ejenesa village. The baby was traced to his house at 1900 hours but the mob overpowered both the police and the king, took him away and set him ablaze at Jesse Roundabout,” he said.
Muka also told our reporter in Asaba, yesterday, that a patrol team attached to Ughelli Police Divisional Office arrested a three-man car syndicate and recovered a Volkswagen Golf car, which they claimed was stolen from the owner in Baylesa.
