Overcoming Sin Life Issues: Section 3 Have you ever seen a really good fight?  One where the bad guy gets knocked to the  ground and the champion wins? That's how God wants it to be between you and sin. The Bible describes the Christian life as a battle between our new spiritual self and  our old sinful self.  God said to the first humans, "You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at  the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master" (Genesis 4 : 7).  Sin is an enemy, waiting to conquer you.  But sometimes it seems so hard to  subdue it, right? Even the great apostle Paul felt this way.  He said, "I don’t really  understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do  what I hate" (Romans 7 :15). So how can you win the fight with sin?   The short answer is you can't; we are all too  weak.  But the long answer is that Jesus has already won the fight for you.  Go back  to that fight in your mind.  Imagine that the guy you want to win is too weak, and it  looks like he is going to lose.  But right as the enemy has him on the ground, a very  strong hero comes in and saves the day.  That’s what Jesus did for you when He died  and rose from the dead.  Colossians 2 :15  says Jesus "disarmed the spiritual rulers and  authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross." Jesus  won the fight for you! Now our job is to continue to walk in His victory through  walking with the Holy Spirit every day.  It's like going on a walk with a friend who  knows the way.  You need to listen to his directions.  The Holy Spirit is leading you on  a good path. If you haven't been walking with Him, take a moment right now to ask  His forgiveness and lead you again.  Find out more how to conquer sin and walk with  the Holy Spirit in this section.

There is no sin to overcome for those who are in Christ Jesus. The new creation in Christ Jesus lives by faith alone (Romans 1:17).Without faith,it is impossible to please God.1 John 3:9,the scripture stated:'he that is born of God cannot sin,for His seed remaineth in him...'.If you are born again, you no longer live for yourself but unto God in Christ Jesus.Don't forget that in baptism, you died with Christ, buried and also resurrected with Him and actually sitting with Him (Christ in heavenly places)(Ephesians  2:6).Just like death reigned from Adam to Moses as the law became life to those who kept it (Romans 5:14),Christ brought a higher life and a better revelation which is that those who believes in Him and confesses Him as their Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:8-10),no longer under the operation of the law which is sin but operates with grace (Romans 5:17).Basically,the new creation recieved abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness (the nature of God) and walks in the spirit. The Bible said that when you walk in the spirit, you cannot fulfil the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).Christ died, which is the penalty of sin, buried, went to hell to complete the entire punishment of sin. When that was fully done,He resurrected truimphing over the power of sin, death and the devil.Of course the Bible said in 1 John 3:8 that whosoever commits sin is of the devil for the devil sins from the begining.

How convenient. Set the bar so high that you can't help 'sinning', and then the church has you by the balls. That's how they keep the sheeple in line.

What a disparageent! Christians are not sheeple as the bible is crystal clear. It is simple as it is said.Sin is a nature (not an act) so also righteousness. The church is the body of Chriist and therefore cannot hold you by your balls if you sin.Only Christ who is the Head of the church can if at all there is no need for that. The church is not a place of condemnation or judgement but a place for exaltation, service to God and perfecting of the saints of God.The truth is that nobody will go to hell as a result of sin;instead, people will go to hell for refusing to accept Christ as their Lord and Saviour.Christians live by the grace of God in Christ Jesus.

@hosbert,if u say there is no sin or christians can`t sin bcos of abundant grace, then why do we find some christians in sins, and remember sins take people to hell. pls be explicit. I know faith is the most important issue but hw do we reconcile the issue of sins ?

In Galatians 3:10-11 the scripture said

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

As christians,we are not under the law but under grace in Christ Jesus.
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

1Jo 3:5   And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

1Jo 3:6   Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

1Jo 3:7   Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1Jo 3:8   He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

1Jo 3:9   Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1Jo 3:10 ¶ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother

Also Galatians 5:4-5
4Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

5For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

Futhermore,Galatians 5:16-18 makes it more clearer thus

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

In summary, anyone that commits sin is not a christian because sin is not the nature of a Christ but that of the devil.
