The 16-year-old boy was accused of luring his victim (name withheld) into living with him in his house, at Oke-Igbo, town without her parents’ consent.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Sikiru Odunjo, told the court that the offence the accused allegedly committed contravened section 362 of the criminal code cap 30 Vol. II laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 1978.
Odunjo also informed the court of his readiness to prosecute the case by inviting three witnesses, but sought a short adjournment to enable him peruse the case file and assemble the witnesses.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
In his application, the accused urged the court to dismiss the allegation of abduction levelled against him, because the supposed victim is his girlfriend.
He added that he planned to marry the girl and had already secured her consent.
The trial magistrate, B.J. Akinwumi, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He also ordered the accused to sign a bond to be of good behaviour while the matter remained in court.
