There is no place like home. Is better be deported in good health, than spend the rest of life in prison. Be wise Niajan Posted: at 22-07-2011 11:29 AM (13 years ago) | Newbie | |

As much as i sympathize with these folks, i still think they should have travelled to Britain with the right documents just like everyone. Why do everything in Nigeria have to be through RUNS.
How do you think they got into UK? They had the right papers. They were deported because they remained in UK past the time specified in their VISA. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT CRIMINALS! They were unable to extend their stay in UK.
dan fulani“There were deported as a result of immigration-related offences and that is why we keep advising those travelling out of this country to ensure they get the required papers before leaving our shores, the source said." The above quote from the source says otherwise... I know alot of Nigerians that travel outside with fake documents... These guys knew they were breaking the law. Even if they overstayed, they knew they were still breaking the law. You can't accuse the Nigerian govt. for not carrying out their immigration duties and at the same time criticize the British govt. for carrying out their duties. The UK officials executed their duties perfectly and you can not blame them. I am sure Nigerians were not the only group of deportees from UK. be a little diplomatic here.

Bros, forget the Nigeria Government officials statement. They are all liars. United States is not Europe at all, when it comes to immigration matters. But man... Look at it from the British govts. standpoint. I know these deportees are our brothers but lets just say the nigerian govt officials were lying about the reasoning behind the deportation...let's just say these guys overstayed their Visas, they knew this was bound to happen. they should've tried extending or doing something in the UK to earn their citizenship. I mean all the years they have been there, are you trying to tell me they couldn't have helped their selves out in terms of citizenship runs. And yes i believe you UK and US aren't same because US doesn't have too many time on their hands to be chasing around Nigerians or other people who have ran out of status. Their main focus is illegal mexicans.

Celestial1 at 22-07-2011 04:45 PM (13 years ago) (f) One thing many Nigerians are unaware of is that the lands of the west are not brimming with milk and honey. Yes, there was a time gone where one could make a living as an undocumented person, eventually gain their status and be citizens. Those days are gone. Most countries in the west are having terrible economic times and being an undocumented person is not wise in these times because work is very hard to come by. Many folks think all they need to do is get int he country and it will be a bed of roses. It may be hard in Nigeria, but when you are an illegal in a strange land with no work opportunities, and no regular paycheck it's even harder. Nigerians need to get to the reality that the west is not like it once was; many are suffering, many are unemployed, many are living hand to mouth. Stop glorifying the countries of the west, instead find opportunities for success in Nigeria and help to build up the nation for the next generation.
