AN inferno yesterday gutted the Aguda Market in Surulere area of Lagos, burning some unidentified persons to death and destroying 120 shops.
The cause of the fire that started at about 2.00 a.m. was said to be unknown.
Goods belonging to shop owners in the market worth millions of naira were burnt.
Affected traders living around the area who got information about the fire on time reportedly rushed to the scene but could not salvage the situation as the inferno had spread wildly and destroyed the shops and the goods.
The Lagos State Police Spokesman, Samuel Jinadu, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), was not available when contacted on the matter

God have mercy. May God replenish those who lost their goods in the inferno. The root cause of the inferno must be investigated.

Probably an electrical fault. I've seen a lot of dangerously connected electric wires dangling anyhow in some movies, what more a market.
