Arsenal's hopes of landing Lille starlet Eden Hazard have taken a sharp turn for the worse with the news that Real Madrid are prepared to break the bank in order to land the Belgium international.

Described by Joe Cole as the 'best young talent I have ever seen', Hazard has become one of the most wanted young midfielders in Europe and has a host of admirers.

Arsenal have long been linked with the midfield star and were hoping to persuade the exciting young attacker to choose a move to the Emirates after losing both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri in the summer.

Hazard was instrumental in helping Lille win the Ligue 1 title last season and has maintained his fantastic form, already scoring four league goals this term.

However, it now appears that Real Madrid may well lead the chase for the players signature after news that the Spanish side have charged director of football Zinedine Zidane with the job of landing the midfielder.

The Spanish giants hope the the former World Cup winner will be able to convince the 20-year-old to choose the Bernabeu over the Emirates if he does decide to leave Lille.

It is believed that Madrid are willing to make an offer of £30million for the youngster and will even attempt to lure the Belgian to the club when the Janunary transfer window opens.
