The prosecution officer, Sergeant Okolo Usman told the court that the accused raped the crippled woman and her daughter at the Central Market Police Outpost on December 16, 2011. He said the action was contrary to sections 283 and 285 of the penal code law.
Usman said the accused was on night duty when he saw the crippled woman and her daughter roaming the street in the night and offered them help.
“The rapist corporal was patrolling when he met with his victims trekking to their home. He told them that it could be dangerous for them to continue trekking in the night. He said there is every possibility for them to be harmed on their way and therefore, he pledged to offer them shelter at the police outpost,” the prosecution officer told the court.
He added that the cop used the opportunity and raped both the mother and the daughter in the outpost.
The presiding judge, Senior Magistrate Nuruddeen Abdulmumini Jikanshi adjourned the case till February, 28 for continuation, while the accused was remanded in prison custody.
