A statement from the Maxwell khobe Cantonment Jos, signed by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lt col. Andrew Idachaba, said the movement is to ensure proper coordination to fight criminal activities within the region, following what he described as the intractable security situation in the North-East region of the country.
It was gathered that as a result of the movement, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Major General Buba Marwa has relocated to Gombe, and has undertaken a tour of the division’s area of responsibility.
Gen. Marwa assured states under his area of operation of their safety, warning that the division will not condone any act of criminality. The statement further said that soldiers have already been trained and fully deployed to the area to fish out criminal elements.
The GOC in the statement said the Chief of Training and Operations in the Army headquarters, Major Gen. Lawrence Ngubane recently visited the division, and that both of them visited Damaturu, Bauchi, Gombe, Potiskum, Maiduguri, Biu, Mubi and Yola.
