The gunmen invaded the ICPC office situated at Hotoro quarters in the metropolis and disarmed the police man on guard duty after allegedly shooting him.
The suspected gunmen, who were said to be riding a motorcycle, stormed the office and began to shot into the air to disperse the people around the area and allegedly wounded the policeman before seizing his gun.
It was learnt that the police man who sustained bullet injury is receiving treatment in a Kano hospital.
The incident occurred at about 6 p.m. on Monday when people were rushing to beat the curfew imposed in the state since the January 20th multiple bomb blast that killed 185 people.
Eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, said the gunmen, numbering about two came, on a motor bike wearing kaftans.
The eyewitness said “They entered the ICPC premises pretending to be looking for somebody and took the police man on guard unawares dispossessing him of his AK47 riffle.
“Immediately after shooting him, they left on the same motor bike that brought them.”
Police spokesman in Kano, Musa Magaji Majiya (ASP) confirmed the incident.
He said “two gun men stormed the ICPC office in the state this evening and succeeded in disarming the police man on guard and got him wounded.”
Majiya said police has reinforced within the area as investigation is on to unravel the motive of the attackers.
