The earlier claim made by the men of the Nigerian police that Kabiru Sokoto, the alleged Kingpin of the Christmas Day bombing of St. Theresa in Mandalla near Abuja escaped from a lawful Custody could have been a hoax after all as new facts emerged on Friday relating to how the Boko Haram member escaped from the hands of the Nigerian police.
Top police investigation officer who told our correspondents that the suspect has been so helpful with his Confession, disclosed that Kabiru had given further insights into how some top police officers were contacted by the leaders of the Boko Haram sects in order to free Sokoto from police Custody.
Kabiru who escaped from Custody after been taken to his house for inspections denied that he escaped from a lawful police Custody,saying that his escape was planned by some police men at the echelon and Boko Haram leaders.
It would be recalled that the Police Commission in charge of kabiru’s case was suspended by the Federal Government after the escape while the then IG of police Hafiz Ringim was also relieved of his job as a result of Kabiru’s escape.
According to SSS source, Kabiru has pointed at one or two police men who aided his release from the police custody and the SSS are working round the clock to ensure that these people are summoned for further interrogation and investigation.
