The national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, has called on the Ndigbo, to embrace and support the agitations of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).
Umeh, who made the call in Nnewi, during the church service to mark the end of the week-long burial rites for the late Chief Odimegwu Emeka Ojukwu, said MASSOB was the only organisation that had vigorously pursued the Igbo agenda after Ojukwu.
He noted that the movement was instrumental in the Federal Government’s decision to accord the late Igbo leader a befitting state burial, stating that other zones have their militia groups that protect and agitate for their interests.
The APGA leader disclosed that he had been supporting the activities and agenda of the movement, saying that “I am an active member of MASSOB and I am proud to belong to the group. MASSOB has fought to ensure that the Igbos are not further marginalised, they have agitated for the freedom of the Ndigbo, even within the Nigeria context and their activities should be embraced by all well meaning Igbos.
“It is time the Ndigbo came together to support and identify with MASSOB, as our identity and instrument of liberation. In the North they have the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), in the West, they have the Odua People’s Congress (OPC), in the South-South, they have the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) and the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), our own in the South-East is MASSOB and we should openly support it,” he said.
Umeh also described the leader of MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, as a true son of Ndigbo, adding that his recent conferment with the highest title in Igboland was on merit and was well deserving....nai jane du.Com
