Twenty-four-year-old suspected rapist, Dayo Ogunlade, has been arrested by men of the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly having canal knowledge of a 17-year-old househelp, Mary John, on March 2 at Plot 31, Opeyemi Street, Oluyole Estate extension.
Also, a 24-year-old woman, Adisat Adebayo, has been arrested for child stealing.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olabisi Okuwobi who confirmed the incidents in Ibadan on Monday, said that the suspects would be charged to court.
She said that one Mrs Ronke Opabunmi, had reported at Oluyole Police Station that Dayo Ogunlade of Ayekale Street Odo Ona who came to complete a job in her compound, had forcefully dragged the housemaid, tore her underwear and waist beads before having canal knowledge of her without her consent.
According to her, detectives were sent to the scene of the incident and the victim was taken to hospital for medical examination while the suspect was arrested.
On the child stealing case, Okuwobi said that the suspect had at Adesian Isabe Basorun of Oyo town, stolen a 10-year-old girl, Mariam Sekiru.
While noting that the incident was reported at Durbar Police Station, Oyo, the mother said she went straight to Owode Motor Park and where pleaded with transport union who confirmed that the suspect actually boarded a vehicle at the park.
She added that the driver was contacted by telephone and the suspect was arrested and taken to Gate Police Station before she was returned to Oyo with the stolen girl.
