In a bid to quell the rising of kidnapping, armed robbery and other crimes in Delta State, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. MD Abubakar has ordered that the State anti-kidnapping Task Force be immediately disbanded and all Officers and men of the
squad including the Officer-in-charge (OC) Anti-kidnapping task Force a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) for colluding with kidnappers.
The Officers who were immediately disarmed and flown to Abuja were said to have been deeply involved in the series of armed robbery and kidnap cases recorded in the Oil rich State.
As at the last count, a total of 98 persons had been arrested including Pastors for their various roles in the crimes going on in the State.
Confirming the incidence, the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan in a media chat with Reporters after the State Security Council Meeting in the State Government House Annex, Warri today, stated that the situation is under control while urging all law abiding citizens to go about their lawful business as no stone will be left unturned in a bid to rid the State of criminals.
It is of note that lately, Delta State has been taken over by hoodlums with kidnap, robbery and rape cases recorded state-wide every second. Recently, the brother of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly together with four others were kidnapped while the wife of a Serving civil commissioner was equally kidnapped some weeks ago.
