Barely a week to the local government elections in Ogun State, Governor Ibikunle Amosun has pledged  that his administration will not tamper with the results of the elections while also urging the electorate to protect their votes after performing their civic duties.

Amosun, who made this comment while on campaign tour to Yewa South and Ipokia Local governments, said his administration would not in anyway engage in election rigging.

He urged people to come out enmasse on July 21 to vote for the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidates so that the dividends of democracy being enjoyed at the state level will percolate to the grassroots.

According to him, “ACN is not a party for the riggers; our government will not encourage election rigging. That is why we are appealing to you to come out in large numbers to vote for our candidates in the local government elections.”

He remarked that the local government elections shall be characterised by the principle of one man, one vote, just as he advised the voters to protect their votes as some people were ready to rig this election.

“But the ACN, as a responsible party, will not join them in the bad act. We shall tell them that we are truly the people’s choice and the darling of the masses,” he explained.
